Q: Considering your session on supply chains, what do you feel is the biggest challenge facing businesses within the next year? What impacts does this challenge have on you and your customers? And how can we overcome this challenge?

The biggest challenge will be the ability to deal with the macro dynamics such as inflation and paradigm shifts of uncertainty due to the conflict in Europe. Customer demand is volatile, and hence, businesses need to adopt a strategy to deal with this uncertainty through optimizing cost whilst maintaining the service level without burdening the clients to not lose market share.

Q: Do you have your eye on any specific technology that can help in managing supply chains and achieve effective commercial fulfilment, and why?

All technology are designed to tell us what they want us to know – rather than focusing on any specific technology, supply chain professionals should think out of the box and consider how to use the technology to drive their critical needs, which can be, for example, freight management systems to help them better manage their JIT strategy, or optimizing their spend on transport, or artificial intelligence on product assortment based on customer focused areas.

Q: What would be your biggest piece of advice for fellow leaders in strategic operations who are concerned about supply chain and commercial fulfilment?

Commercial is like the brain of the body, supply chain is the heart enabling all the functions to beat as one. Do not work in silos; instead advocate a win-win situation.

Q: What do you feel is the value of in-person events like eCommerce Expo Asia, and why would you encourage fellow business leaders to attend your session?

The value in events like eCommerce Expo Asia is in the shared network and learning through one another’s ideas – all business leaders should challenge their current status thought process.
